I was successfully using remapper_feather.uf2 to combine inputs from a waveshare RP2040-Keyboard-3 and a Keebdeck basic with my iPhone 16 for about 2 weeks and then when I switched out for shorter cables my set up stopped working. When it was working there would be a green LED at one end of the feather RP2040 with USB Type A Host a red LED at the other end. Now there is an amber LED at the end that previously had a red light.
Troubleshooting steps I’ve tried so far:
- I tested all of the new cables to ensure that they carried data and power successfully.
- Switched back to the original set of cables.
- I tested each of the keyboards to ensure they were sending out signals
- I tested both keyboards together with the USB Hub into my Windows laptop which works without the need for HID Remapper.
- I attempted to reinstall remapper_feather.uf2 using my Mac Mini that I had used to install it initially. It successfully mounted as boot drive and after copying the file it unmounted itself, but did not present itself as a keyboard to the mac like it had after the initial install.
- I re-downloaded remapper_feather.uf2 and duplicated the same failed installation as in step 5.
- I downloaded remapper_feather.uf2 on he windows laptop and duplicated the same failed installation as steps 5 & 6.
- I followed two separate sets of instructions on the Adafruit site to “nuke” the programming from the feather RP2040, and clear out the programming. The first installing flash_nuke.uf2 didn’t make a difference. The second involved installing Circuit Python which installed successfully and issued a ‘storage.erase_filesystem()’ command, which also didn’t make a difference.
The board itself appears to be functional, mounting as expected to receive a new uf2 file, and running as expected when installing the circuit python uf2 file. But does not work as expected when installing the remapper_feather.uf2 file. After the first install I did not need any configuration to get my desired functionality.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to test it further, or what may have happened to break it, please let me know.
